Cam Newton is a good quarterback, but I’ve always thought, after a big game, that winning the Superbowl wasn’t that high on his list, and that spells the difference between good and great. A struggling team could use him and he would make a good backup.
His impact on the game hasn’t been the same since winning the MVP back in 2015 and losing the Superbowl to the Broncos. He was my favorite QB during that era, but I do question if he could be a backup at this point. He’s so used to being “the guy” at every level to the point I think his pride might get in a the way. Maybe a team like Washington could take a look, but his options are very limited due to the timing of his release.
Good points. I think he’s humble enough to join a team with the opportunity to compete for starter, even if it takes a year or two. I could see him as a backup, to start, in Dallas or Seattle, maybe, but certainly there are teams needing better quarterbacks. He still has skills.
